Merit Aid

I looked on the Rose-Hulman's website and it appears that the most money offered in terms of merit aid is about $3000 (/ year?), which is very little compared to the $50,000 cost / year.

Is this correct? And if so, how does one "afford" Rose-Hulman, eg, not pay $47,000 / year? From what I understand, unless one gets extremely lucky, external scholarships will not cover that much.

(This is assuming that one does not receive financial aid).

Thanks.

I’m not sure where you got your information. Our daughter got about 18K in merit aid from R-H.

Hi foreached,

Could you please provide the link where you found that information on our website? That is grossly incorrect and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Thank you,

Argh, this is going to bug me. I searched on the website for awhile and could not find where it said the maximum merit-aid offered was $3,000, given in three increments (so, you could get nothing, $1,000, $2,000, or $3,000). I was even talking to my college counselor about Rose-Hulman and she pulled up one of the merit-aid pages and confirmed the $3,000 maximum.

Sorry about this, I can’t believe I’m unable to find the original site. If I ever do, I’ll make sure to post it.

Thanks, makes me feel much better.

Could it possibly be a mis-reading of this page about graduate assistantships?

I don’t believe so. The page you linked referenced a $3,000 award on a monthly basis; I recall it being yearly and offered in increments of $1,000 dollars.

It’s always possible I misread, though. I know the Rose-Hulman website recently got redesigned, so I probably read some old information that (potentially) got taken down.
