To poster number 19…the open options of Columbia and Yale are no more open financially than Harvard. I’m not sure what you mean by that. And the $10,000 is for a special program offered by Columbia. I do not believe that is money towards Columbia cost of attendance as a matriculated student.
Both Yale and Harvard have very generous need based financial aid even for family incomes in the $150,000 range with typical assets.
Hopefully the OP has run the net price calculators and discussed college funding with the parents. And the OP will also be able to look at the financial aid offers from all of the schools before making a matriculation decision.
