Is it possible to get any money at OSU as an out of state student?
Stats: 3.65 GPA, Sat- math 660, reading 600, writing 610, EC, want to enter as Mech eng. major. How much $$

They do [National Merit Scholarships](http://oregonstate.edu/financialaid/national-merit-scholarships), [Provost Scholarship](http://oregonstate.edu/financialaid/provost-scholarship), and [Tuition Grant](http://oregonstate.edu/financialaid/tuition-grant-scholarship).

The only snag you might run into is the fact that their [non-resident cost of attendance](http://oregonstate.edu/financialaid/estimating-your-cost-attendance), if you live there, is $31,871. Are you sure you can meet that costs?

Are you in a WICHE/WUE state that would get you a reduction in tuition?

I don’t believe Oregon State participates in WICHE/WUE.

How much will your parents pay each year? If not much, then it’s not likely the school would be affordable.

Oregon St has a COA of over $31k, but the possible competitive merit scholarships for your stats that you might get (not assured) would range between $2k - $7k per year…leaving your family with about $24k-29k per year.

Right, I forgot, only UO does and even then it’s pretty limited.

Actually, neither UO or OSU participates in WUE.

'rent, are you from CA? I have a friend in CA with a sr last year and mentioned UO for WUE to them since I figured all WUE states could participate, then I read on the UO website that CA is the only state not included.

I’m in Oregon, entomon. I am not sure, but I think the reason UO and OSU do not participate in WUE for CA students is because their peer schools in CA do not reciprocate. That’s part of the deal with WUE as I understand it… that it’s an “exchange” not just a tuition discount.

The regional state colleges in Oregon are WUE schools with regard to CA, though, just not the two big state universities here.
