Merit-based scholarship for international students

I took the SAT once and scored 2330 (730 Reading, 800 Writing and 800 Math). My IELTS band score is 7.5 and my GPA is 3.6, unweighted.

Since my family can only afford around 10,000 - 15,000 dollar a year, I really need a huge sum of aid to be able to study in the US. Is there any college that offers merit-based scholarship or financial aid to such extent?

Thanks a bunch :)

Get your application to University of Alabama done ASAP. If you get it done now, you will receive a merit award that should make up the difference between what your family can pay, and the cost of attendance.

Then check the above pinned thread about scholarships, and see which other ones apply to international students.

Yes, Alabama would give you free tuition.

What is your major? If it’s engineering or computer science, then you’d ALSO get $2500 per year.

Apply NOW…you have to get your app in and the scholarship app in by the Dec deadline. These awards are for int’ls, too.

Thank you guys. Your advices really help me calm down. I was so worried to be placed in Cornell College’s waiting list (they only offered me 20,000). Baldwin Wallace also gives me a minimal sum of 15,000. Perhap the University of Alabama will be more generous?

There are plenty of places that offer that kind of merit aid. Whether you would get it is another thing. Start with the thread that is pinned at the top of this forum, and read through the links about guaranteed merit-based aid and competitive merit-based aid. Check each college/university on those lists to find out which offer that aid to internationals. There are several more in addition to Alabama. But mom2collegekids is correct. With your stats, you would get in and get the money at Alabama.
