Could anyone reccommend some good merit-based or even need-based scholarships? I have a 2400 on the SAT, 3.94 unweighted GPA, but I am pretty poor. I was wondering if anyone could post some suggestions regarding possible scholarship opportunities.

based on your SAT and GPA, you could apply to whatever scholarship you want!

Timberlake--There are many, many scholarships out there for a student with your statistics. Most schools, except for the ivies have merit-based scholaships if you are interested in applying to the school in question. For example, the University of Virginia has the Jefferson Scholars program, which provides a full ride to the most qualified students. You should look at this thread, http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=129938, which lists most merit-based scholarships.

As to other scholarships, there are many which look for a combination of academic accomplishments and community service. You should register with www.fastweb.com (I think that's the website) and it will alert you to all outside scholarships.

Wow, thanks so much midatlmom. I did recently register at fastweb and have found some good ones there. Hopefully I can get a few outside scholarships to make it a little easier on the parents.
