Merit-Based Scholarships

i come from a well-to-do family, so it's too bad that i can't apply for financial aid scholarships because they'll most likely give me nothing. has anyone applied and received any merit-based scholarships? the amount doesn't matter to me; any feedback would be appreciated. THANK YOU! :)

there are two books on merit scholarships by Ben Kaplan that I found worthwhile. Check your library.

thanks.

anyone know any good websites for merit-based scholarships?

<a href="http://www.scholarshipcoach.com/%5B/url%5D">http://www.scholarshipcoach.com/</a></p>

sites like fastweb all include merit scholarships too

Start with collegeboard.com to see if a college has your major. Then click on the college's website and from there do a search on their website for scholarships. Look for merit based scholarships on the college's website. We found many this way that we did not see in any centralized location. There are some great merit opportunities out there.

A general way to focus your search is to compare your stats...esp your standardized test scores with the colleges average on collegeboard.com. If yours are significantly higher than the college's average you have a good chance of receiving a merit scholarship at that school. Don't bother at schools in which you in the average SAT scores. Some schools SAT averages are amazing...MIT, Harvard, etc. But there are good colleges where you can get an excellent scholarship without having a perfect GPA or SAT scores.

However, in order to get a scholarship you still have to have the stats to prove your deserve one.

that website is so nerdy it's funny

haha. and i thought i was the only one who felt that way.
