My daughter got her acceptance; when do you hear about merit aid and honors program acceptance?
when did she apply?
M
@billybobby54 I think around the second to third week in October, heard from two schools last week and one yesterday
@billybobby54 sorry, actually applied at end of October, acceptance came about 2-3 weeks later
My student received $15k presidential. Letter came Wednesday.
We got the letter yesterday, $12k presidential
For those that received merit @shebaseweed and @paparent106 do you mind sharing stats? We’re still waiting here, she applied mid October, was accepted into the Honors College but no merit letters yet.
@AmyBeth68 doesn’t look like she got Honors College, no notification of it to date
1380/4.0/9th out of 433/good ec’s/volunteering/works as a ski instructor and lifeguard
OOS 33 ACT, 34 superscore (but not sure if they superscore). Top 3% 4.8 weighted GPA, all AP and honors classes. By the way, it is a Trustee scholarship not presidential as I previously posted.
My daughter was thrilled to receive Trustee/$13,000 on Friday (standard letter, nothing on portal). No honors notification, she emailed asking if her application was still being reviewed or if acceptance without mention of honors indicates she was declined, has not received a reply yet.
@class2022parent It seems crazy that she would get a Trustees and not get the honors program acceptance. Has to be a glitch in the system.
@class2022parent Congrats to your Daughter! My daughter didn’t receive her honors notification with her initial acceptance so my guess is her application could still be in review from Honors College which may be separate from regular admissions. I know last year kids heard about honors in some cases much later. Do you mind sharing her stats…still trying to figure what my daughter my qualify for in terms of Merit. Thanks and congrats again!
@AmyBeth68 I don’t know if you have done this already but if you go to ud website and go to financing your degree and the go to the net price calculator and there are places to plug in gpa and test score and then tells you what level of merit aid you can expect
Thanks @burghdad … will go find that
My daughter received the merit letter 3 weeks after the acceptance.
Thanks again @burghdad. Looks like she’s got potential for 13k with her 34 ACT and 4.0. While that is generous unfortunately it won’t be in line with other offers. Thanks though for that hint about the net calculator… I hadn’t thought of that!
Sure - 4.0 UW, 1420 SAT (wish she had prepped/retaken but she chose to focus on school/passions), 2/250, all AP/honors, lots of ECs/leadership, significant community service, job, summer internship in major - all for her/not how it looks and think that shows through in her “story”. Hoping she will get into honors but if not, its ok. She was really selective with colleges she applied to (caring only about best fit for her) and I trust her instincts/where she ends up will be the place that sees her as best fit as well. Her great grandfather was UD professor/Director of Marine program a long time ago (nice family connection - but she didn’t mention that) - great school that I would be happy to have her attend, hope everything works out for all these amazing/hardworking kids!
@class2022parent She sounds amazing…I wish her the best and see no reason she wouldn’t be accepted into the honors program. Congrats
Thanks so much, I would be very surprised if your D doesn’t receive the $15000 with a 34/4.0 - best wishes to her as well!
