I have met 9 or 10 shipman winners and they are all have amazing personal characteristics and above average on the grades/scores.

I am in Shipman Society. I don't think I really have amazing personal characteristics, haha. Generally it's a very unpredictable area. I would say everyone is both very smart and very interesting. And do extremely well on grades/scores. (of the Shipman folks from my school, and there are a few in the last 5 years, each has had a perfect score on the SAT or ACT - though this may be a coincidence more than anything else.)

They really don't need to give scholarships to top in staters because it's a good enough school at a cheap enough price to lure them from Ivies.

That's not true. The merit aid is split between the two. The best and brightest from in-state receive large merit scholarships as well.

hmm. okay. i'm probably going to call undergrad admissions and get their take on everything as well. thanks!

you're headed for U of A, Sun Devil at the heart.

U of Arizona are not the Sun Devils, that's their rivals (Arizona State). They are the Wildcats.

And Arizona is a fine school. It has many terrific programs, perfect weather, is in a wonderful college town, has some of the hottest students in the country, is one of the biggest party schools in the country, has great athletics, and is one of, if not the biggest feeder school to the most growing areas of the country. And not to mention the great tuition rates and generous scholarship opportunities, that many schools in the country do not offer.

Haha don't worry about Avery, he knows me personally... and he's also not from Arizona and obviously can't tell the difference between ASU and the U of A Mildcats... (but he is right, I am a Sun Devil at heart!)
