Merit Only Scholarships?

I'm wondering if anyone has recieved a merit scholarship that has nothing to do with financial need? I know some are merit with need but I'm more interested in purely merit for those with high efc's. Thanks.

I got a Presidential Art Scholarship in music for $15000 a year. They have them for music, theater, and art, but you have to go to DC to audition on the specified dates.

I received the Board of Trustees Scholarship with 20,000 as well as the Alumni award worth 2,000 and two other merit ones worth 2,000 each. They are all guaranteed for all four years.

I noticed that also, not much mention of the Presidential Academic Scholarships. Maybe they will be in the mailed acceptance packet, has anyone mentioned being accepted into honors yet? Or maybe they are being eliminated and combined with the need-based awards?

I called them last week and they said that the Honors Program decision would come in the mail.

Hi, I was accepted EDII this year and was notified of my Presidential Academic Merit Scholarship in my acceptance packet. Hope that helps.

15000 for merit
(i didnt even apply for FA)

shootforthetop–can you tell me your stats? just sat and gpa? and did you apply for honors? im hopeing for that same scholarship (didnt do the fafsa or anything) and the packet should be here any day but im anxious! if i dont get it i cant go :frowning: please let me know. thankkksss

I heard that you have to be in top 10% of applicant pool as well as certain gpa, test score and class rank.

sure!
lets see

sats: 770-math 660-reading 620-writing
(not really amazing)
4.35 gpa
taking 6 AP’s my senior year

honestly i didnt even apply to the honors program but for some reason i got accepted to that too…idk why

although my stats arent amazing, i did a lot of volunteer work such as i organized a group of people to go to india to start an extracurricular debate program at local schools in the city. also i have some unique things on my resume such as hosting/organizing a fashion show broadcasted internationally, and holding the miss nj pre-teen title as well as being awarded by the state for my science league scores. i guess they liked my versatility? haha

thankss! thats really reasuring i have very very very similar stats! 800 CR 720 Math and 680 english and about 5.2 Weighted (4.0 unweighted) gpa. i didnt apply for the honors program either now im interested to see if they offer that to me too! ha AND another coincidence i organized a fashion show as weelll and raised a ton of money! (althought it was on a much smaller scale…definately not broadcasted internationally!) but thanks so much. congradulations on all youve accomplished it really did pay off! hopefully ill be as lucky as you!

wow sounds great!
good luck on ur acceptance!
im sure ull get something
and see you at gw next year! haha

I got 25,000 and I haven’t even applied for financial aid.

oh wow! which school did you apply to? what were your stats? sorry im asking so many people im just so anxious to find out if or what i got!

I got a Presidential Academic Scholarship for 15K/year.

I got $10,000 and I thought my stats were low as well as ECs. Maybe need merit? single mom with <$100,000 salary. Will need more $. Scared to see financial aid package.

I applied to SEAS

ACT - 33
Class Rank 10/540ish
Lots of EC’s

I got the PAS for $15,000 too.

My stats were OK - 3.4UW/4.5W and 2050 SAT. I think it was my IB predicted score (43 out of 45) that made me get it. Extras from what I’ve been told are very good and I thought my CommonApp essay was decent for having been written in 3 hours on December 31st :)
