Merit scholarship dollar amounts?

My daughter got accepted for 2024, in Marine Biology. She hasn’t applied for the scholarships yet that are due this weekend, and we’re wondering if any parents knew what dollar amount was awarded last year, from College of Sciences.
We are OOS, ACT 29, 4.0/4.9ish, lots of dual credits.

She wants to decide now, NC or Clemson (instate), and is saying there’s no way NC will offer loads. Right now we’re $44 NC and $22 Clemson. Even $5k would be helpful. I know there’s no harm in applying, I was just wondering if anyone had a figure. We would also like to say No thanks sooner rather than later, to ease someone on the waiting list.

We are in the same boat. In Va. and not sure they can give enough to compete with either a VT or South Carolina which has given my son merit. I hope they let us know soon so we can make the decision

I just called the financial aid office and they told me notification would go out middle of March which seems to be a common time as that is what USC had said they would notify

Daughter has decided she’s going to Clemson! I’m trying to come to terms with that! I kinda wanted NC State.

Did USC give you merit $ amount? If it helps, I can give you my older daughters stats and exactly what USC offered her.

@JoannaT Yes on his acceptance it said “at least 40K” which is 10K per year. We were there last weekend for admitted student day and it is high on his list. If he doesnt get any additional money from NC State they will be eliminated. He also got in with Academic Common Market major so he would get instate tuition (wouldnt be able to use the scholarship) so if he does go to USC he has to decide if thats what he really wants to major in.

Clemson is a great school and will end up being better financially for you

@JoannaT We are in the same boat but in reverse. Live in NC but my daughters 1st choice (computer science) is OOS Clemson or VT. We visited NC State yesterday and she met with a lot of people and has decided to commit to NC State. I was grateful to a professor that simply said, you cant go wrong with any of these schools, but is the diploma worth the extra 80K for OOS.
