Merit Scholarship for 2009

The merit scholarship is in the mail. DD got one today, postmark March 10.

Which one?

i.e., did she go to the B/K interview, or is this "other" merit scholarships?

i got president $8,000 a year in the mail today, and i live in montgomey county,md

HEY!!! Congrats!!!! Now we'll all be on pins and needles. Thanks for the info, shlllll!!!!

Ginab591.

Which one? It's the consolation prize, President's Scolarship $8,000/year for 4 years.

Did she interview for BK though? If so which day?

how did you find out? email or snail mail, etc.

Um, the OP said it was postmarked March 10. Also, note post #4. For financial aid, one poster said that his son got an email today that told him his financial aid info was posted online. Others have said that last year, they looked and found it online before they got the snail mail.

Yeah, I got President's too. I also received an invitation to the Catalyst program for Life Science students. Both were mentioned in the letter.

Ginab591. D did not get B/K interview, but was hoping for it.

I noticed the trend so far for the President's recipients (shalala, foghorn and D), they have SAT score of ~2300, Gemstone and/or HH invitees, and In-State. Well, since it was a snail mail, In-State people received and reporting it here before the OOS.

Hi

I got president $5000 a year in the mail yesterday
Anyone know if you need to accept/enroll in order to get merit from Engineering department?

S2 got a Dean's Scholarship letter yesterday. $4,500 for the 1st 2 years. We are very happy!

D received Presidential Scholarship in mail today. $5,000/yr. Not what we were hoping for I'm afraid.

S got offered the President's Scholarship, $5000/year. Also says: "you will be pleased to know that the amount of your scholarship will be increased annually at the same rate as out-of-state tuition".
A very nice surprise since we didn't think out-of staters received much merit consideration.

$5K for D, too! The tuition increase clause is a nice touch!

President's Scholarship $12k/year. out of state. didn't receive an invite to interview for the BK scholarship so i'm surprised i received that amount of merit aid.

oh and i got my letter today postmarked March 9th.

i havent recieved anything yet :/

i expected to get some sort of merit scholarship (2260 SAT, 4.2 GPA, nat merit finalist)
but even if i dont get a merit scholarship i know that i should be getting a scholarship because I won the UMD Partial Scholarship through National History Day last year and they said they would send me information once I was admitted...

@ sarha they are trying to increase merit for OOS students. That's why they increased the OOS partial B/K. They want to become more reputatble and attract more people from OOS of state. At least that's what my B/K interviewers said.

Did any of the people posting amounts actually go for interviews?
