Does anybody know which schools offer significant merit based aid in the Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts area? Thanks

Jpd…hard to tell you about merit for YOU without knowing your GPA and SAT or ACT scores. Also…what is “significant” merit aid to you? How much can your family afford to pay?

I haven’t found the NE to be sources of “significant merit” (my definition) unless you’re a NMF and then Fordham and NEU give full tuition scholarships.

My own definition of significant merit is an award that has a remaining cost of well under $20k per year…such as full tuition so that remaining costs are about $15k per year (room, board, books, fees).

How much will your parents pay?

What are your stats?

If you are in-state in Connecticutt, UConn has full tuition scholarships. You need to be a National Merit honoree or nominated by your high school to apply.

WPI in Mass gives some good merit scholarships. Many other lesser-known private colleges give merit scholarships up to about 1/2 tuition.

A lot depends on what level of merit you consider “significant”.

There are many good options in MA.

Assumption College and Clark University and WPI in Worcester

Newberry College in Brookline (near Boston)

If you are female Smith College has amazing options.

There are too many to list, think about what you want from a college and then start looking for support. All colleges are not right all students. I think the world of WPI, but it is not for everyone.
