I'm sorry if this question has been answered in another thread, but I just had some questions:

Around what time will we be notified about merit scholarships? I heard that they come earlier, but I wasn't sure whether they come in by April 1 (with the admissions decision) or sometime in January or February. Are we also notified if we did NOT receive a merit scholarship?

The general schedule of admissions decisions outlined in post #10 of http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/422566-faq-usc-admissions.html has been consistant over the last several years and will liklely be repeated this year.

Yes, candidates for Trustee and Presidential scholarships, as well as those selected for Bac/MD interviews will hear the last week of January-first week of February.
I recall last year that several applicants said they received notice that they had not been selected to interview for Trustee/Presidential, but were still being considered for the many smaller scholarships when USC requested they submit mid-year grades.

I bumped up the 2010 Decisions thread - you can look at post dates there to see when people received decisions.

Good luck!!!

Thank you so much alamemom!

I also had an additional question. I submitted my application to USC around 11/27, and I took the Spanish Subject Test in December. Do I still need to send in an unofficial paper report to USC of this score, or is it just fine if they receive the official report?

If you really like your score, FAX it in ASAP so they can see how great you did. If you are less than thrilled with the score, wait for the official report to get there.

A poster from last year who’s spouse was a faculty member mentioned that departments got together to choose scholarship candidates in very early January - so if that subject test is great, be sure they have it in front of them!
