Merit Scholarship Notification

Does anyone know when they are scheduled to notify us about merit scholarships? A student called my house relaying important dates re: accepting your offer of admission and FAFSA filing and also said to be on the lookout for a scholarship letter that will be mailed soon? Anyone else get a call like this? Does anyone know when these letters will be arriving? My dad spoke to the student because I wasn't home... he didn't ask :)

Also, are we told if we were selected for Capstone at the same time or is it a different letter?

When my mom talked to someone in the admission office in February, they said scholarship info would come out in the beginning of March. I would expect (depending on where you live), that if you are getting something than it will come sometime next week. There is a Scholar’s Weekend March 25-26, so you will definitely hear before then.

If you’re really anxious, try calling them and they might give you some information specific to your situation. When my mom called they basically told her what I could expect from them in terms of merit aid and that we should plan to come down for that weekend.

My stats are in the middle between the averages for the McKissak and Cooper scholarships.

Hoping for the Cooper, but as long as I get in-state rates plus, I’ll be happy. And I’m in the Honors College, so I’m real happy about that.

I got my scholarship info in the mail today. I got the University Scholars Award, but hopefully I’ll get Palmetto Fellow and it will be upgraded to the Deans Scholars Award. crossing fingers.

I’m pretty sure that I got the smallest award available. $500 a year… but it’s still a start.

Can’t wait for scholar’s day.

That letter wasn’t supposed to include the LIFE scholarship information was it? Because I really need that scholarship.

I wouldn’t think that a letter from the college would include anything about the life scholarship since the state awards it and not the college. It’s my understanding that the Life scholarhip is pretty much automatic and will be awarded only after graduation as it uses gpa and class rank for you entire senior year.

Anyhow, Friday my son recieved a letter telling him that he would be recieving scholarship money but that it would be several weeks before the amount is determined.

My daughter received her merit scholarship letter yesterday. :-)

To those that have received their letters … are you in SC or out of state?

I’m in state.

So us out of staters are probably going to get letters tomorrow or Tuesday, hopefully.

Just got me letter today (in NJ), Coopers Scholar Award :).

My DD received her letter this past Saturday. We are out of state. North Carolina.

In state; also, to answer another question for the original poster - daughter’s merit scholarship letter arrived in last Saturday’s mail. Today, she received an email indicating that a letter will be arriving this week inviting her to be a Capstone Scholar. So, two separate communications. :-)

mckissick up in md!
