When will people be notified of the Presidential Scholarship invitations?
@car889 I just got a letter in the mail from the office of the provost guaranteeing me the Presidential scholarship and inviting me to the presidential preview weekend to interview for the Trustee scholarship. It was postmarked 1/27 so I think everyone should be getting them soon.
@crystal19 Congratulations, that’s awesome news!! I got a letter from the Office of Admissions that just restated what was on MyAID, was your Presidential information in that or a different one? I’m thinking if I got the Admissions MyAID letter but not a Presidential one, my chances are pretty slim at this point, but I’m holding on to some hope [-O< Congrats again tho!
@mstrmoe Thanks My MyAid shows that I got the Presidential and the early action scholarships, but that was just updated this morning. The letter restated my award but also mentioned the Trustee scholarship interview and said another letter with more info would arrive soon. Hope that helps!
I recieved a letter in the mail today saying that I recieved the Presidential Scholarship and have been invited to the Presidential Preview Weekend to interview for the full scholarship!
Hi – my daughter just got accepted for Fall 2015 – she received an email yesterday from Admissions - yay! But she also received an email from the Financial Aid office saying her ‘MyAid’ had been updated. If she had been given any kind of award/grant where would it be listed? I only have the tabs ‘My Steps’ ‘My Tasks’ and ‘My Parent’. Nothing is listed on any except that our FAFSA is ‘Recieved Complete’ under ‘Tasks’. I can’t tell that anything has been updated unless maybe the word ‘completed’ was not there before.
Where would an award be listed? Do I need to wait for a letter or would it automatically be on the site?
@Ripple1969 It sounds like they just updated My Aid to acknowledge receipt of FAFSA. When you receive her financial aid package, you will have tabs in My AID that say MY AWARD, MY WORKSHEET that outlines what your and your daughter’s financial obligation will be if accepted. Hope this helps. Also will be a MY Financing tab as well. Congrats on your daughter’s admission and good luck. Maybe my son will meet her next year.
@mumz14 – thanks for the info. LMU had actually already received my FAFSA a while ago. I think they might have just added the word ‘complete’. I hope ‘complete’ doesn’t mean they are done with our financial aid request and have decided we don’t get any. Tell me that won’t be the case : )
I will keep my eyes open for a letter or for more tabs to open.
And yes, how nice that our kids might meet and be friends!
@Ripple1969 I think you will receive some aid. Be on the lookout for an email with the title or subject " Your MYAID account has been updated. Aid year 15-16. That was the title of the email my son received when his awards were available in MYAID. You should hear shortly is my guess. Once again good luck and let us know when you receive!
I didn’t apply for financial aid; does this mean I won’t get any merit awards either?
mumz14 - I DID get that email 'Your MyAid account has been updated" but it only seems as if the word ‘complete’ was added after ‘received’ on the FAFSA line under the ‘My Tasks’ tab. No new tabs. That’s why I am afraid that we are not going to get anything – that maybe our file is ‘complete’. But I will let you know if and when it changes! Thanks.
Beardown97 – the LMU website says:
“A number of grants are made available by LMU, the State of California and the Federal Government to help fund your LMU education. The Financial Aid Office considers your eligibility for these based on the information submitted on your FAFSA.”
But also says re Scholarships;
“Some LMU-sponsored scholarship awards are automatically considered alongside your application for admission; however, a number of scholarships require separate applications by varying specific deadlines.”
So it looks like you could be still considered for Scholarships even if you didn’t apply for aid…but you should check the LMU site yourself and maybe call. I think they deadline to apply for aid is March 2 so you could still do that if you need to.
Thanks!!! I’ll probably submit the FAFSA soon.
Can anyone tell me if they received what they had seen as a merit award in the net price calculator? My daughter got in Early Action. Her GPA and ACT show her to receive $10,400. She got $0 merit and $2000 Early action award. Something does not seem right. Anyone?
My son’s net price calculator was $500 higher than what he was offered (including the EA $2k).
Thanks for the info RALdad. Can I ask u what the test score and GPA are for your son? My daughter has a 3.57 GPA and a 30 ACT.
@joeparent:
SAT: 2110
UW GPA: 3.75
W GPA: 4.1
Thank you for sharing RALdad and best of luck to you and your son!
Can anyone else tell me how your merit award compared to the net price calculator? am in the appeal process and any info would help.
Notified via the portal today, Monday, February 1, that D got $13,500 Arrupe Merit Scholarship, plus $2,000 Early Action Award. I went to the website, but I cannot figure out what the Early Action Award is, or, more importantly, if it is just a one-time award or renews each year. She is about 3.9 unweighted, about 4.2 weighted, comes from a private school so they don’t offer many AP’s, 30 ACT, plus SAT Bio subject test of 760. She is interested in science/medicine. We are from Northern California. Does anyone know about the $2,000 Early Action?
