Merit Scholarship Question

Given that I am an in-state student accepted into the business scholars program as a finance/accounting major with 35 ACT and 4.3 GPA, can someone give a relative estimate as to the amount of merit scholarship money I could receive? Family income around 60k per year. I did not apply for the Morrill scholarship.

Did you already find out about scholars?

No I have not heard. I was accepted as a direct admit to the business school. How selective is the scholars program? I was told on the campus visit it is fairly easy to get into.

Ohio State uses class rank and ACT score to determine merit scholarships. What is your class rank? If you’re in the top 3%, you’ll very likely receive the Maximus and National Buckeye.

OP is in-state so would not be eligible for the National Buckeye only Provost/Trustee/Maximus. Do not worry if your school does not rank - you are still eligible to receive these scholarships even without a rank. My son’s school doesn’t rank and he received the Maximus last year. I don’t know if OSU makes an attempt to determine your rank based upon the school profile your counselor would send or not but I venture to guess they do not as its unlikely anyone would have calculated his rank to be in the top 3% based upon our school profile.

OP your best bet is to review this link for information about OSU’s merit scholarships.

Adigel … when did you find out last year about your son’s Maximus scholarship? Was it at the same time as Honors/Scholars was announced? My son got in a few weeks ago, but we’re wondering when the merit decisions are announced.

He got accepted on 12/11 and got his letter re: scholarships on 12/19. He did not apply for Honors/Scholars so I don’t know when those announcements came out relative to these dates last year.

@adlgel he got his scholarship letter that fast? Wow

Yes we were quite surprised to be notified that quickly. He received Buckeye and Maximus so it’s possible that regardless of date accepted that they had a set date for sending out recipients of that combo of scholarships.

Has anyone heard that they have received a merit scholarship yet?

@greentravel I have not heard on anyone getting scholarship notifications yet. I know in past years, they’ve come out later in December/beginning of January for EA students

Thanks for the response. We will keep waiting and be hopeful!

@soyunchico I am also waiting to hear about merit scholarships for my younger son, but my older son is a sophomore at OSU right now and he received his scholarship letter two years ago on 12/20…I don’t think he found out about his Scholar program acceptance till March. @hahsndh not sure how selective all Scholars programs are, but the Business Scholars program seems to be popular and competitive…we did hear of a few students not getting in.
