Anyone get a merit scholarship from Fordham? If you did, will you drop some stats? ACT/SAT score, GPA, name/amount of scholarship, any other info is appreciated.

This, IMO, will help out future applicants much more than a chances thread. If people reply that is.

I know people with core SAT scores above 1450 with larger scholarships. I know that every application at Fordham is screened for scholarships, and that they are not needs blind. Generally, from anecdotal remarks and conventional wisdom if your SAT core scores are BELOW 1400, you will likely NOT receive any merit scholarships.

Financial Aid is another matter altogether. You may well qualify for a Fordham Grant (really the same money as a scholarship, just without the prestige.) Financial Aid is not based on SAT scores or GPA.

But I dont speak for Fordham Admissions so you really have to ask them to verify the requirements.

actually, I had a 1930 SAT (1300 core) and a 3.7 GPA and i got the Loyola Scholarship ($8,000/year). However, I also had a leadership position in just about every club or office that my school offered, and they say that they considered leadership in picking the scholarship recipient

I got the semifinalist award, but my stats won't help much. That award is based on if you're a national merit semifinalist and in the top ten percent of your class. If you meet those guidelines, you'll probably get the award . . .

Congrats oalio. Its a mystery to me. I know kids with higher stats who got nothing. Yes Leadership counts for scholarships. It may depend if they know your school or not.

My d had a perfect score on the writing section and scored well over 1500 on the other combined sections. 4.0, tons of leadership and tons upon tons of community service. Double legacy. She is an AP scholar with distinction & National Merit Commended. She was named student of the year by a local organization and won several other scholarships for her community service. She got a $10,000 Deans from Fordham.

It's disconcerting that Fordham gives full scholarships based on 1 exam and doesn't necessarily look at the full picture - they are losing lots of bright kids using this method - but that's their prerogative because it helps increase their USNWR ratings and that's what it's all about.
