$$$-merit scholarships as sophmore transfer?

My son wants to transfer from NYU. Not enought interaction with faculty and direction for him to make him feel it is worth the big money. What schools can he now get merit grant scholarship aid from as a sophmore transfer? His sats were 1550. He did not get into any ivys despite great work experience and great grades, and lots of AP's. He did not apply ED which was a mistake. He was offered about a 10K merit scholarship from NYU and 20K from GW at the time. Any idea of what schools consider transfer students for $ award??
Thanks

Most scholarships are awarded through a specific university, so he will have to contact a school he is interested in directly. Since he has been dissatisfied with his first school, it is more important for him to choose a student in which he feels most comfortable as opposed to one in ehich he recieves the best financial aid package. Getting back to the scholarships, however; I would guess that these are reserved for freshman applicants, but a student with your son's academic record would probably have a good chance at receiving some sort of scholarship. Some schools consider the whole range of activities in which a young person is involved in as much as their GPA. At least that's how I got my scholarship. (Maybe it was just my school?)
