Merit Scholarships at CalPoly SLO

<p>My son is interested in science UG most likely Biology or Biochemistry area. I looked at the scholarships page but found many are for junior and senior years. Are there any merit scholarships awarded for incoming freshman? Are there any given out based on scores/grades automatically?</p>

<p>They are rare and small. My son received $8k. As a relative comparison, he was awarded $100k by Case Western. Poly doesn’t have a lot of spare cash as a CSU and for many majors admissions are so competitive that just getting in is the reward. Good luck.</p>
