Merit Scholarships at Fordham?

Fordham is absolutely my first choice school, and I already got a likely letter for FCLC. However, my family just can’t swing spending $70,000 a year on tuition, so I was hoping someone could maybe chance me for how much merit aid I might get? I don’t think I’ll qualify for the Presidential Scholarship, but any kind of idea of how much I might get would be really appreciated! My family won’t qualify for need based aid.

GPA: 4.00 UW/4.9W
ACT: 35
APs: APUSH, Euro, Lit (all 5s) Gov, Bio, Lang, Music Theory (I’m expecting 5s on these as well) My school’s music schedule combined with a block schedule pretty heavily limited how many APs I could take before my senior year.

Besides APs I pretty much took all honors courses through high school, as well as a dual enrollment in Calculus at a community college this fall, which I’ll probably get a high A in.

National Merit Commended Scholar- This is the part I’m most worried about. I missed the cut off for NMSF in PA by 2 points, and I know semifinalists get full tuition. Is there anyway I could try to appeal that in 30+ other states I would have been a semifinalist?

I’m a white Catholic girl going to a mid size public school in the suburbs outside of Philly. There’s about 360 kids in my class, and my school only does decile ranking, so I know that I’m safely in the top ten percent of my class ranking.

I also do a bunch of extracurriculars, especially in the music program at my school

Marching Band - won a state championship - 4 year section leader
Indoor Drumline - won 2 championships
Indoor Guard- earned a silver medal - less than a point out from first
County Band (3 years)
Jazz Combos/Improv - soloist
Principal’s Advisory Council
NHS
Music Honor Society- founding member and secretary
Musical Mentors - service based music club - cofounder and VP

Awards

I have the standard ones - AP scholar, distinguished honor roll, NM Commended Scholars.
Best Rookie and Most Dedicated for Marching Band
Semifinalist for Ayn Rand essay contest - top 10% of over 1000 submissions
I don’t know where this fits, but I did write a 25 page research paper on the progression of fashion throughout the French Revolution for fun? Unfortunately, Fordham doesn’t accept supplemental materials, so I don’t know if I can even tell them about that.

Thank you so much!

Full tuition is not guaranteed for NMF. It’s competitive. My D is in the running for that and we’re quite nervous too. It’s probably her top choice also but because Fordham doesn’t promise to meet need, we’re waiting to see what happens. (She also got a likely letter for LC campus)

Your stats look great. Good luck!

@MidwestMomTo2 Thanks for letting me know. I guess we both have to play the waiting game until we get our FA notifications in Jan/Feb. Hopefully your daughter and I will both be at LC in the fall!

I think an admissions rep said that some merit awards would come out with the EA admission!
