Hi I'm thinking about applying to WashuSTL and Vandy but basically because there is no supplement. I know this seems kind of shallow but if i got in it would be nice to have the options of these two very good schools. I was wondering about financial aid because my family income is around 70,000 and wanted to know if WashU or Vandy would supply me with good financial aid if i did not do any of the merit scholarships. Anyone with past experience please comment. Thanks.

Your thread title implies you are interested in merit aid, but then you say you don’t want to do any supplements. I don’t understand. Both of those schools require additional merit aid applications.

For need based aid, Vanderbilt is a “meets full need”, “need blind” school and has a no-loan policy–that is, the f.a. package will not include loans. I’m not going to predict whether or not your family will be eligible for need based aid, because it depends on how large your family is, if there are siblings in college, if there are assets, and so on.

Washington Univ. is not, to my knowledge, a no-loan school. I don’t think it is need blind, and I don’t know if they meet full need.

In any case, you can read the financial aid pages for the schools and get more information.

For Vandy’s merit scholarships, you have to write 2 or 3 500ish word essays.
