I was accepted to the University in early December, and accepted to the Honors Program in early February.

Recently, I received a letter notifying me of a 2-year, $1200 a year scholarship I won. They said about 250 of the incoming freshman were offered this.

Does anyone know if there will be more academic scholarships offered? I don't know if this was through the regular school or the Honors Program.

UW's website has a list of academic scholarships that they offer so you should check to see if any more might apply to you. The one you've received is one that is through the regular school and not through the Honors Program. I say this because I also received a 2-year, $1200 a year scholarship, however, I do not know yet if I got into the Honors Program. I received notice of the scholarship about a week after I got my acceptance letter (early January) and I didn't turn my Honors app in until the second deadline. Hope that helps!

My friend who was originally rejected from honors, got a letter a couple weeks ago saying he got some $13,000 for one-year scholarship for honors or something. So I don't know how that works, but yeah, just throwing this out there.

Wow, ok, now I'm really confused. So are you rewarded a scholarship if you get into the honors program? Does this mean that Dopke's friend is in the honors program even though he was originally rejected? Thanks guys in advance for your response.

if we already got notification that we don't qualify for need-based aid and got a financial offer with only loans, can we still get merit scholarships? i sent in my app before the dec. 1 deadline and was hoping for some merit $ to help out my parents (but dunno....)

Okay, my friend was NOT rejected already. He just never heard until two weeks ago that he was accepted into Honors. Either his acceptance to Honors was lost or maybe they didn't accept him til now. Perhaps they were considering him for a big scholarship, which he did get. He got basically a full-ride excluding room and board in the Honors program for all 4 years. $13000 x 4 years = you calculate it :P

In-state. And it basically is full-ride cept for some room and board I think because on my UW financial award thing, it lists 16000 aprox. as the UW total cost.
