SO HELPFUL @buoyant !!! I just want to reiterate, if your family is high need, you’ll want to apply to several meets need programs if at all possible. Because acceptances don’t mean anything if you can’t afford to send your kid!
Buoyant makes some great points; don’t forget to factor in that merit scholarship is a stable number (usually given some minimal GPA.) But FA grants can change from year to year, depending on factors such as, for example, number of other kids in college.
I have compiled the scholarship data. The data below is based on: (1) the messages posted on this thread; (2) DMs from CC members and (3) picking up what I could from the 2019 journey thread. I didn’t go through each and every post on the journey thread, so it is highly likely that there is some missing data. If you don’t see your or your child’s information on here and would like to add it, please DM me. If you do see what you think is your or your child’s information but it does not appear to be reported accurately please DM me with any corrections. I included $0 scholarship awards for schools that do offer scholarships but where an admitted student reported that they did not receive a scholarship offer. I will update this as more information comes in.
Caveat: this information is self reported and not verified. While the amounts do not include financial aid awards, there is no way to discern whether the scholarship amounts were need informed such that a family’s financial information impacted the amount of the merit award.
Finally, all amounts reported are music based merit awards unless the notation (academic) follows the award.

Thanks for all the hard work compiling this! Super useful to future generations of applicants.
I do have one potential suggestion relative to your caveat. Since this is anonymous, would be great to flag each example based on whether the applicant was FA eligible or not. Regardless of what level of FA they got. Because it would help us identify the ranges and patterns at work. For example there are a couple of schools that seem to have a couple “standard” levels of merit based on whether the applicant was FA eligible or not. This seems to be part of how they implement their “need informed” policy.
So even something as simple as an asterisk next to an entry (either academic or talent) indicating a need eligible or non eligible student (whichever makes most sense) would help folks set expectations based on their own situation. No need to publish actual FA grants/etc. Just eligibility.
Anyway just a thought as we all try to understand the Dynamics going on and how the ranges work.
Thanks again for going above and beyond to help future applicants! Truly paying it forward.
Congratulations to all on these awards and thanks to @lkbux64 for all the work it took to compile. It also may be helpful to know if the students are in or out of state for state schools. I’m assuming all are BA/BM candidates, so if any MM are reported, also would be worth noting!
@Ikbux64 My son also has $1000 from being NMF at Thornton (Viola). He has $6600 academic and $5000 music (violin) from University of Washington
@lkbux64 - wow! So very useful!!! Only comment is that it would be great to assign a dollar amount to the full tuition scholarships if possible.
BTW - Frost is the place to apply to!!! Wow!!! They are a great program and generous.
Can we also add if there are appeals and what additional was given? Just a thought since many seem to go that route. Might be useful information to have. Maybe someone can start another thread on that to compile info? (calling Berklee tomorrow to check into doing a small appeal - doesn’t hurt to try, right?).
Thanks, @tripletmama, @Drummerdad18 and @songbirdmama! I will put out a refreshed list tonight that will include the amounts of the full tuitiion scholarships as well as additional and clarifying information I received from others today. @Drummerdad18 and @songbirdmama - I agree that knowing whether a student was FA eligible our out of state for state schools would be a useful datapoint however, I will need others to provide that information to me in order to add that.
Cool! I’ll PM you our info to get the ball rolling
Thanks again for taking this on!
@Ikbux64 for some weird reason, I can’t PM you.
Thanks for the feedback and additional information. An updated list follows, with a couple of new additions. For state schools, IS = in state and OOS = out of state. Also, with respect to financial aid, FA = applied for financial aid and NFA = no financial aid applied for. I have taken liberties to add that information based on what I have gleaned from people’s posts, but if I got it wrong, please let me know. And, if I didn’t add a notation regarding residency or financial aid but you would like it to be included, please DM me.

FYI, Juilliard is spelled with an extra “i” after the the “u”. For some reason this site autocorrects it to the wrong spelling (!) which makes many posters second-guess their original correct spelling.
@lkbux64 NFA means? Sorry! Referring to the list of scholarships…
@MomOD4, I know there’s a lot of information in there! I did provide the key to the acronyms but the post is so long I can see how it got lost. Here they are:
NFA - no financial aid applied for
FA - applied for financial aid
IS - In state for state schools
OOS - out of state for state schools
FYI - the $20k merit award that our daughter got at Berklee was not related to FA or informed. She got it last summer when they didn’t have any of our financial info.

I was hoping this list would make me feel better/hopeful, but is it? ? Not sure. Lol. Feeling heart palpitations just reading it, but thanks for the info. I appreciate all who are sharing/organizing the data. May be helpful…
So it looks like S’s scholarships didn’t make it on the list, but he’s BM Music Business so that’s probably why. If anyone in the future is looking into Music Business, feel free to PM me about it.
Something I still want to figure out: Frost scholarships only included talent $, or did anyone get merit $ in addition to talent $?
Also, for the U Richmond VP full ride…I would love to know if there were circumstances beyond the arts supplement that was submitted? Was this UR demonstrating need? Or was this someone with national awards, etc? Just wondering without an audition how it was determined that a full ride would be given. If this is you and you would like to PM me, I would love to hear about this awesome award! We’ve moved on from URichmond, but still curious;)
@Propinquity4444 , I assume the applicant was awarded being a Richmond scholar, a group of selected scholastic applicants with outstanding academic and extracurricular credentials. If I’m not mistaken, they name around 50 scholars per application year and several of them are reserved for candidates with outstanding art recognition.
