merit scholarships/what smith looks for

<p>The website states 35-40 STRIDES are awarded. The administration informed me the number is closer to 30. Dunno if “awarded” means those who accepted. During my conversations with Smith I believe they used the word 'offered'
No matter, it’s an honor to receive the distinction.</p>

<p>My D did a little survey for me ;) She spoke to some of her fellow STRIDES and asked who they turned down for Smith. Here were some of the responses in no particular order: Brown, Amherst, Wellesley, Princeton, Cornell, Stanford, Yale, Bowdoin, Williams..... Pretty flashy indeed! Some of these responses were from the same students; just so you don't get the wrong impression.</p>
