How tough is it to get a merit scholarship a UMich?

as opposed to where? Merit scholarships generally require a student to be in the top % of admitted candidates.

not really opposed to anywhere....but just in general....like what is needed stats wise

I love answering merit scholarship questions lol..you crazy CC kids!

In order to consider yourself "in contention" for merit scholarship, you'll need the kinds of stats that would make you VERY competitive for Ivy+ Admission. I am an LSA scholar, and ALMOST everyone that I know who is also a merit scholar was admitted to some top 12-13 school and choose UM b/c of the money. My gf for example, is here on a full ride, and she choose UM over Harvard. I choose it over dartmouth and washU.

I'll be more specific....w/e is equivalent to 1400+ on the SAT/ACT in today's terms, strong and UNIQUE ec's and accomplishments, 3.8+, and/or top 10%

Thanks! That information was very helpful.

I've heard being a TASP (telluride association summer program) alum is pretty good for scholarships, especially at U-M, since they host one of the programs during the summer and have the telluride house there. is that right?

If it is merit based, why do extracurricular activities count?

Extracurriculars also fall under merit. From what I understand, "merit" scholarships are designated as such to distinguish them from "financial-aid"

ECs are one additional factor used in the selection of candidates.....many, many students will have similar or identical stats....perfect GPA and perfect SAT/ACT so these other factors can come into play.
