Merit Scholarships...

When will Illinois announce merit scholarships? Do we have to submit FAFSA for merit scholarships too (I am not expecting a need based anyway)?

[U</a> of I Admissions: Admitted FAQ](Page Not Found, Illinois Undergraduate Admissions)
“Your application for admission is used to determine your eligibility for all merit based scholarships and honors awarded through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. A letter of notification regarding scholarships or honors will be mailed to you by the end of March or early April at the latest. Read more about individual awards and honors.”

FAFSA isn’t needed for merit-based. Many schools encourage you to fill them out anyway, just in case your eligible for something (even if it is small).

FYI the individual departments also give out scholarships and they may have different notification times. For example, the College of Engineering says they notify the first week of march.

Thanks @LonelyHapax!
