Merit Scholarships

Has anyone heard anything back yet about merit scholarships? I'm curious to see how it all works out this year now that IU doesn't have the automatic scholarships that they have had in the past. Thanks!

Not yet…still waiting

sorry…have heard about $11,000 merit OOS waiting on SSA scholarships

What kind of GPA/test scores earned the 11000 OOS merit? Hope you get some SSA, too!

I do wonder if this change in scholarship policy will result in fewer high stat kids attending IU.

4.3 gpa, act 32

BBL, those are great stats! Thanks for sharing…it is really helpful for next year’s applicants to know what scores are receiving merit aid.

I know students with similar stats who received a lot if ssa money last year. Hopefully, that doesn’t change!

Anyone else with merit awards/stats?

I got the $10000 OOS merit with a 4.1 and 2150 SAT

Congrats as well!

nolives,

Well done!! Congrats on your merit award and thanks for sharing…incredibly helpful!

So far…(but remember the stats are just one consideration. EC’s, etc are important, too!)

OOS
4.3 and 32 ACT $11,000
4.1 and 2150 SAT $10,000

Any more? Any in-state merit awards yet?

I think they only look at GPA and test scores for the “automatic scholarships” The other stuff comes into play for the additional scholarships

BBL,

That is a good point…and absolutely was true when my C was going through this process. Strictly GPA/test score for the automatic (at the time) scholarships. Essays and EC’s for the SSA.

I have a 32 ACT and a 4.1 GPA, but only $5000 per year in scholarships. I did update my ACT after my initial application. Could that be impacting my scholarship? I am OOS.

my child was accepted and direct admit to Kelley. We did not apply for financial aid and are OOS. Should we be getting a letter (soon?) with merit scholarship info? Just like that? A break in the price? Is it (typically?) a 1 year award? 4 year? as many years as you are there (being in Kelley, we are considering the 5 year MBA program)

OOS

4.3 and 32 ACT $11,000
4.1 and 2150 SAT $10,000
4.1 and 32 ACT $5,000

Baba,

The awards that OPs are mentioning are renewable 4 year awards. They used to be automatic with a certain GPA/test score, but that ended this year so this thread was started to shed some light on the process.

From these initial reports, it appears that the scholarships have been reduced significantly under the new system. Last year, an in state kid with these numbers would have received $9000. OOS would have received more.

so not ‘everyone’ oos gets money? : ( I think we are high 3.x.

When did / would notifications go out about the awards?

DO we separately apply for financial aid and merit scholarships? My Son got into Kelley today. We are figuring out next steps now.

Felicita…not true for OOS…last year the automatic OOS scholarship for ACT 32 and GPA 4.2 was $11,000…that was the most you could get

IU scholarships are confusing, especially since they (officially) did away with the automatics. I got the provosts ($9000 in state) but I don’t think that its connected to the SSA. I got that quite a while ago. Still waiting, although I don’t think I’m going to IU. Stats: 4.0 u/w SAT 2140.
