I was accepted to umn in CBS. I am excited. As an OOS from California, it is just the same cost as me attending an UC, but may be with an easier shot at the classes I would want to attend. Hence I am leaning towards UMN. When do we hear about the merit scholarships, because at the end going to UMN will definitely depend on the cost.

Yes, they stagger the scholarship mailings. DS received one scholarship in the Nov/Dec time frame and then another one came in Feb/March. It was the reason we visited in April. If he didn’t get that last scholarship, we wouldn’t have made the trip.

MTnest - So did your DS end up attending? And how does he like it? My DS has been accepted and was awarded a scholarship in the fall, but we have not visited (at least not yet) … and time is ticking away on these decisions!

Yes, he is currently attending He likes it very much. When we visited, it had snowed the day before and it was cold! He really does like the cold weather. He turned down Miami because of the heat/humidity :(

And my kids says it is not so cold and we are talking -10 degrees out!! LOL!! Minneapolis is a great city. We really like visiting but only in the summer/fall!

My D was accepted way back when (December I believe), but she has not seen any scholarship offer in the mail yet. Any ideas on if she will even get one sent soon or one at all?
Her GPA at HS is a unwaited 3.96 and the ACT was a SS of 28 (not as good)

I see on the website they offer a ton of different scholarships, but we have not received hide or hair of any scholarship offer. Is this something that I should have my D check in to, or will that come soon? My D has been accepted into all of her choices, and this is the first school that hasnt sent any Merit Money.

Yeap, I understand the ACT part. She has received good packages from private schools that have higher tuition cost up front, so it will be a hard decision, as even though MN is very cheap for out of state students, those scholarships from the other schools (U of Denver) make it all even as far as cost go.

Most private give need based aids that have different criteria. If you are from MN, you should be able to get some need based aids too. Merit scholarships would be difficult.

I received some scholarships in October also and haven’t received anything since. I’m hoping for some additional scholarships, they hopefully will come soon! The website says by the end of March, so there’s still some time left.
