I want to make sure I am understanding the merit based scholarships listed on the website correctly. Is the 1848 Scholarship the same as the academic excellence award, in that if you meet the eligibility requirements you automatically receive the award?

I had similar questions last year when my daughter was applying. I called/emailed the regional admissions counselor and got the Qs answered.

I know it’s been a while since you made the post, but the answer is “Yes”. The 1848 Scholarship is an automatic one that is awarded to students who meet the criteria. There is a secondary application called the Special Programs & Scholarships application that will allow your student to apply for all other institutional scholarships as well as special programs like the Honors College, Center for Manufacturing Excellence, Croft Institute, etc.
