Is merit scholarships based strictly on gpa?

Nichole,

No offense taken :)
Congrats on making into the Honors Program.

Lostandsleepy,

I believe merit scholarships are based more on SAT scores than GPAs. However, I believe GPA still is a fairly significant factor in determining the recipients.

Honors and $18K deans for me too... just around that 1440/32 cutoff so I guess that makes sense.

swmass,

Thanks for the info, but i got my packet today and I did not get any money...I guess my gpa (3.6ish uw 4.33w) and SAT scores (m-650 v-710 w-700) were to low. Opps...

My Ds stats were about the same and she got no merit $$ either. I'd think that the school would be glad to have students with those type of stats, but I guess I underestimated the competitiveness. Does anyone know what happens with merit scholarships that were offered to students that don't accept? Is there any hope that the school would give that $$ to students that previously didn't make the cut? Guess it can't hurt to ask, right?

I was wondering the same thing about honors. Is there a waiting list? Might someone who was close to the cutoffs be invited as other students who got in don't accept?

I second that. I was wondering the same thing as COMom.

unfortunately, i believe they account for unused monies in some way. there seems to be no "wait list" for merit aid. but check in with your admissions counselor for your particular geographical area.

I received a Presidential Scholarship (25k) and was notified in my admission packet. It also appeared in my admitted student portal.

Is anyone planning to go to either of the two Honors Overnight events?
