merit scholarships

I'm applying for the class of 2012. Just curous as to whether Berkeley has any merit scholarships....since for out of state, the tuition is over 30k.

I'm sure they do, you just have to look for them and use all you resources. Since you are from out of state, you're going to have to be a pretty exceptional student. Good Luck with your search, sorry I couldn't be more help.

According to the common data set, the average institutional non-need-based aid granted was $2,136. You can probably get some outside merit-based scholarships. But bear in mind that Berkeley doesn't give a lot of aid to OOSers (usually, publics don't).

Yes, but most public schools I know have a lot of merit based scholarships. I am disappointed that I have not found any on Berkeley yet (their website is pretty hard to navigate as well).

The Regents and Chancellor's Scholarship is merit based, but the amount of money you get is need based. If you qualify for financial aid it can be quite a bit; if you don't then you get a $1000 honorarium in addition to the normal benefits.
