<p>Merit scholarships</p>
<p>Are any of your children receiving a merit scholarship? How hard was to get them? Any ED merit scholarship recipients around here?</p>
<p>D, who is a freshman,got merit scholarship. She received offers for scholarships at all other schools where she applied. She had some very good essays, references and scores + lots of community work involving her area of interest. She really thinks that the interviews sealed her deal. She showed lots of interest and made it clear that the size of the scholarship was important in her decision.

<p>also, I know that WashU offers $2000/yr for national merit finalists who name WashU as their first-choice institution with the national merit corporation</p>
