merit scholarships

when do we hear if we got merit-based scholarships?

and around what ACT or SAT range are the merit-based scholarships given out on?

According to the website, they're going to start sending financial stuff March 14.

Yeah, it was March 1, but they must have delayed it.. I was hoping for a letter last week, but I'll have to wait another week :(

yeah... waiting on everyone's fafsa I guess?

Shouldn't need FASFA for merit-only... i didn't even file one.. I'm getting merit-only.

They do it all at the same time, merit and need based, so you'll find out everything at once. As I recall it was closer to April when I got my letter, but it's been a while since then, so who knows.

I received my financial award packet today... $10k merit plus Laptop grant... was hoping for a little more, but I think this is actually above average for Rose. Nic, could you comment on that?

my son got 21,000
he still is in the running for the lilly.
and has two ther local scholarships he might not need for 7500 for the first 3 years

^ Jeese! Does that include need-based as well as merit? Loans also or all non-repayable?

No, we won't get any need based ones :(
that was only merit
but he is ranked 1 in his class and SATs were awesome

Wow, really good job, that's so much!

I got mine today - $12,000 merit plus a bunch of loans. I assume that the Catapult scholarship is included in that number... or should it be a separate thing? Anyone know about that?

I ended up with 8k in merit and all the rest in loans with high, high interest rates. May not be enough for me to go, but we'll see.

From what I've heard, it's really easy to get them to increase your award if you just ask... maybe a student can comment on that.

Yup, they gave me an extra 3k/year when I asked for it nicely. Definitely recommend you try.

That's good news Nic! I hope it turns out as well for me.. did you ask yourself or have a parent call?

My parent called. We had some excuses, my step-father had been unemployed for several months and was in the process of starting his own consulting business and I had a good offer to go to Georgia Tech for pretty cheap, not sure how those factored into it.

I got my award packet today...

ACT: 32
GPA: 4.15
Major: Computer Science

Merit Scholarship - $14,500
Plus a lot of other grants and loans. I think it is still too expensive for me to attend. =(

^dgross

if you don't mind me asking, was quite a bit need-based?

I got another $5000 in a need-based grant and a few thousand for Federal Work/Study, ACG, and a Pell Grant.
