For people who got merit scholarships, when will UMich tell them? In the acceptance letter? I got the email and the acceptance packet, neither of which said much besides "congrats, you're in". Does this mean I'm not getting any merit money?

No, they tell you a few weeks later usually.

how long is a few weeks later..?

and, do you have to have submitted finaid info before they consider you for scholarships (stupid q)?

i was accepted back in late oct/early nov and received a michigan tradition scholarship offer the other day... before i sent in my deposit or financial aid documents. so, in short, no.

I honestly don't remember how long it was, but I would guess that they sent the scholarship letter out around a month after acceptance. But that was a couple years ago, and I'm sure some logistics have changed since then.

amandar - when was the other day?

I also got my acceptance in early november, however my merit aid package came probably 2 weeks ago. They seem pretty inconsistent..

I got in Oct 31 ... I haven't heard back from them about merit scholarships ... does that mean I'm out of it?

I fear my GPA killed me.

i got in october 31st and i haven't heard anything. i'm assuming i'm not getting anything :(

To Greatful - the other day was Friday the 12th, and I was accepted by e-mail on October 31.

I got mine liek the 1st week of Nov...i'm OOS so i'm wondering if that's why i haven't gotten anything yet..? Or should i be more patient and wakt a couple more weeks?

From the people that have received merit aid offers, are you in state or OOS?

And in general, does anyone know how often michigan gives merit aid to OOS students?

OOS for me

OOS for me too.

Can you please share your stats?
sorry I just really have no idea how generous UM is with OOS aid. I got my decision on the 11th so I'm waitin and hopin.

I was accepted on the 11th as well - hoping to get some merit scholarships.

Stats : 2240 SAT, strong SATII's in Math2/Chem/Bio, 4.36 UW GPA but about a 3.8 Mich GPA, AP Scholar with distinction (7 AP courses), four Honor societies, President of Youth-in-Government, treasurer of French club, captain of Academic team, captain of Science bowl team, attended Governor's school, college credit through Johns Hopkins, strong essays, rec from my AP Calculus teacher (who I've known since 2nd grade), etc. etc.

what is a michigan tradition scholarship and how much is it worth? My son got the LHA regents scholarship ,it is worth $1500 for the first year.

40000 - 45000 over the UG period. It is given to some students from some states. The equivalent for instate students is called the Michigan Excellence - 40000 over 4 years.

You might be thinking of the Michigan Experience Award. My d got that and she's instate. I think both instate and oos students can get it, as well as the Michigan Tradition award.
