Merit Scholarships

So i got my my package from Brandeis. I am curious if we are supposed to find out about merit scholarships in the Financial aid award letter or if they will notify us separately?

Did anyone find out through the Financial Aid award letter?

Special Invitation Applications had merit scholarships inside the package. I’d unfortunately assume the same for RD…for your sake, I hope I’m wrong. I’d call Brandeis admissions on Monday.

My son was accepted Special Invitation, but cannot go because of no merit aid.

ok thanks. I was just curious because some posts said different. Thanks and good luck to your son.

Thanks…but make sure to call them…I could very well be wrong! :o

I received notification of the Presidential Scholarship in mine…and I didn’t do special invitation. Sorry if I’m bursting anybody’s bubble :(

congrats musicmeli6!

Thank you very much! Not sure if I am attending, though, since I got my acceptance from Wesleyan today, as well. Brandeis gave slightly more money, but also gave a larger Stafford loan for FA…right now, I’m leaning toward Wesleyan, even though I love love love Brandeis. This is going to be difficult…

Would you mind sharing your stats for the merit aid?

Not at all:

Hook (if any): None
State or Country: MA
School Type: Public

Important ECs: Choir (secretary last year and VP this year), select choral groups, math team, musicals, varsity field hockey, SHAPE (a community service group), student government (treasurer of class), and probably some more that I can’t really think of…

Other Factors: I took two college chemistry classes at UMass Dartmouth.

I received notification of the Justice Brandeis scholarship with mine. both a letter saying I had been accepted, one notifying me of the scholarship, and another one showing my full financial aid package. it was all in a big package in a folder. my stats are in my profile.

musicmeli, you found out about wesleyan?! I haven’t found out yet and it’s one of my top choices. :(

Yes, I just found out today!!! According to my letter, this is the “first wave” of acceptances sent out for Wesleyan. Hopefully you’ll get one soon!! Judging by the fact that you got the Justice Brandeis scholarship, I would say not to worry about Wesleyan, but what do I know lol.

haha ok, I really hope so. I’m totally jealous you know already, but congrats!

where else did you apply? I applied to Brown, Yale, Vassar, Swarthmore, Reed, Bowdoin, and got into Bard early action.

also, you’re from mass I take it? me too (Northampton, I took classes at Smith College).

I applied to Brown, Wesleyan, Brandeis, Tufts, BU, and UMass Amherst.

Swarthmore! That’s really cool (sorry, it caught my attention). When I was looking at colleges, I was kind of overwhelmed and decided to stay in New England…but I always thought Swarthmore seemed like an amazing school that I would probably like. My best friend got into Swarthmore ED.

Anyway, yes, I’m from Mass…a slightly more conservative area, though (yuck) that you’ve probably never heard of…Lakeville? It’s in southeastern MA, near New Bedford, Taunton, Fall River…you get the picture. I’m jealous that you live in Western MA…it’s pretty much my favorite region in the world (lol).

BTW I didn’t mean to offend any conservatives, of course.

I applied to Brown too! it’s my first choice and I’m freaking out about decisions coming out in two weeks. and I almost applied to Tufts too, but then I got too lazy and didn’t want to write the essays, lol.

never heard of Lakeville (sorry) but I know the area. and yeah western mass is pretty cool but I’m ready to get out of it I think.

It’s okay, people who live in bordering towns have never heard of Lakeville.

Brown and Wesleyan are kind of tied for me (Wesleyan may be slightly ahead; plus, it’s much more attainable). And yeah, I almost did the same thing with Tufts. There were a lot of essays.

To respond to some of the questions from earlier in this thread, we do send out our merit scholarship notifications right in our acceptance packet.
