Merit Scholarships?

I saw on the Wake Forest web site that there are a number of nice merit-scholarships. I was wondering if anybody on here has gotten them and what their stats are like?
academically, i am 1/734, 4.62 gpa W, 2210 SAT, ACT 32, still gotta take some subject tests and retake ACT.
Anybody with any previous knowledge?
thanks!

My D was accepted this year with similar stats. No Merit. She is OOS. Wake gives very little Merit and it mostly tied to NC.

What is OOS?

OOS = Out Of State

ahhh i get you. yeah i’d be out of state too, im trying to find good colleges that give some sort of merit…cuz as good as it would be to go to ivy league…i cannot afford 50 grand a year, and i wont get finaid…right in that middle ground.

Miami’s website describes a full ride program for students w your stats. Also look into Richmond and Furman.

Most of the aid goes to NC residents, underrepresented minorities (race, religion, socioeconomic), and talent-based (the Presidential scholarship). Also, many of these scholarships might have some sensitivity to need. Less than 3% of accepted students are offered a merit-based scholarship, so if you must be very “desirable” for Wake to offer you one! Here is the PDF of all the scholarships offered, they usually tell you what the general qualifications are! Good luck!

Wake is on a huge"diversity" kick right now. If you’re in the right racial group and your academic qualifications are acceptable, then you will be offered money whether you need it or not. But if you’re not in the right group, then you should look elsewhere. There are plenty of good schools out there that still give some scholarships based on merit and not race.

My son has similar stats. 1/400. 2300 Sat. Lots of leadership, such as President of Student Council, Pres of Principal’s Advisory, Captain of Debate Team. He is top 1-2 in our state for debate and was awarded the Presidential Scholarship for Debate from Wake. They were very generous with us with other scholarships. We are so appreciative.

White male. No diversity here. Also out of state, so the in state argument doesn’t apply either. I think the important thing with most schools is to make a connection. If you have a personal connection with someone who will really rally for you, you have a much better chance.
