Hi there, so I have 2 questions about Union.

First off, I couldn't find any concrete info about merit aid on their website. I'm in the top 3% of my really competitive NY public school, have a 3.99 UW GPA, a 4.78 weighted GPA, and a 2330 SAT. I'm captain of the debate team and have other such ECs. Basically, about how much merit aid could I possibly get?

Second, my mother went to Union. She was in the combined med program with Albany College of Medicine (back when it was still a 6 year program). She was technically valedictorian of her entire class, but back then the rankings didn't mean anything. But anyway, does legacy count at Union? Combined with my stats, could it possibly get me even more merit aid?

We don't need the money per se, but having to pay a lot less for college would be awesome for our family because my sister is in a $50,000 a year school right now. So if I get a good offer from Union and don't get into one of the first choice schools, I would probably want to go to Union.

Do they ever offer full scholarships based on merit. If so, could I possibly qualify?

haha that’s neat, you are kind of in a similar situation as me. my dad went to union, and was valedictorian of his own class. and though he wasn’t in the limm program, he went to get his medical degree after union. I’ve got a 4.0 UW and a 34 act and am in the same boat as far as money goes. one sister is at union and though now tuition and all is like 56k she got the presidential scholarship which is 10k. so even though my dad insists money is not an issue, i’d like a scholarship. when i asked my sister about scholarship, she said that union doesn’t offer full scholarships based on merit. idk whether to believe her but she did say that it’s possible to get more than the 10k. i might guess that 14k is a fair scholarship offer for you

I love seeing the legacy connections and such successful alumni!! We value our legacy applications and having someone in your family attend Union can certainly help in the process, though we do not take the legacy status into consideration with merit aid. Also only about 10% of our overall aid budget is designated for merit; the majority of the aid we give is financial. That said, what we offer can change from year-to-year and the top scholarship last year was $14,000. The general profile of a student at this level would be top 10% of high school class, basically straight A’s in an AP/IB course load, and a SAT of around a 2100+/ 32 ACT.
