My good family friend, who is a child psychologist at a prestigious hospital, recently offered me an internship with her this summer at the hospital (before my senior year of high school). She said it would just be typical intern stuff, shlepping papers and getting coffee, but I would get some experience with patients and hospital work. Another friend of mine did it last summer and really enjoyed it and has gotten a paid internship there for her last semester of high school.

Normally this would be a no-brainer- take this internship! My only problem is that pschology and medicine aren't really what I'm interested in. I want to go into international affairs, and my ideal school is Georgetown SFS. I know this sounds whiny and ungrateful to be asking, but should I do this internship just to see what it's like, and will schools disregard it as valuable if I apply to their schools for other areas of interest?
