message from berkeley

i just got this email, and i dont exactly know what theyre trying to get at. has anyone else got this?

DIVERSITY AT CAL: PEOPLE AND PROGRAMS!!!

Dear Cal Applicant,
As faculty and staff from U.C. Berkeley's Coalition
for Excellence and Diversity in Mathematics, Science,
and Engineering, we are very excited that you have
applied for admission to Berkeley.

Although admission decisions have NOT yet been made (and we have no connection with the admissions office)
we want to give you a closer look at what Berkeley can
offer its students in mathematics, science, and
engineering. We hope you will carefully compare
academic life and student life at different colleges
and universities as you consider your college options.

Berkeley's admission process looks at grades, test
scores, life's challenges, and more, in a
comprehensive review of all applications. To learn
more, you may view the following to see what Berkeley
is looking for when it selects its incoming freshmen

then theres a link. why do they send these?

hmmmm.. i didn't get it. Are you a minority? I don't remember listing race on the app so I don't know where they would've gotten that. Sounds like nothing but good news...

I got one too. it's probably just an email confirmation that they received your application.

im egyptian, not considered an underreprestented minority. i just got another email from berkeley reminding me of the alumini scholarship again and saying that they think im a potential canidate for the award. when do the regent emails go out?

Just like why any school send you anything- they want you to go there. What type of engineering were you planning on doing?

i got the same message. does it mean anything?

i told them in the application electrical then chemical engineering.

everyone getsit. it doesnt mean anything at all..cept that u applied.

so no. It doesn't although I did get one and some other questionaire where i had to fill out questions and get a recommendation from my counselor which is pretty cool.

we received it as well. they have no connection to admissions. I would not give it any consideration, other than the fact that it shows that the school has received and is processing your application. However, we already received such notice weeks ago. I would disregard this latest email.

Yea I've been hearing other people getting not this diversity one but the Augmented Review or whatever it's called (where they ask for a rec and stuff) Aren't these sent to like borderline applicants? M1st3rmarbl3s, if you don't mind sharing, what were your stats? I just want to see where I stand and to see if I should be worried I didn't get...

I guess I'm borderline. 3.83 GPA and 2050 UC SAT score. yea... or maybe not. I have a passion in Taekwondo and other things like president in key club. I'm kinda summerizing everything for you right now but i've posted my stuff before and I don't feel like posting them again.

Yea we def have similar stats (my GPA is a bit higher but my SAT is a bit lower). Anyways, still no Augmented Review. I got TWO identical reminders to apply for the leadership alumni scholarship... hahaha I know it means nothing but it still makes me feel special. :) 2 more months till all truth be told...
