Message to all Princeton dreamers or applicants...

where is Olin?

I believe it's outside of Cincinatti?

why is it so great? just curious...:-)

Olin is in Massachusetts

Yes, it's in Needham MA. It's really cool because they're revolutionizing engineering education by exposing students to a lot of design projects. Their curriculum is completely hands-on, and there's free tuition too :)

so my list has a few inconsistancies too (i.e. brown's lack of a core and chicago/columbia's massive core requirements), and a school or two that my parents really wanted me to apply to (i.e. penn). i'm pretty flexible though, and i've found reasons to love each one of them, and i think i'd be happy at any of them regardless of requirements/location/etc

the list is: princeton, yale, brown, penn, columbia, uchicago, northwestern, swarthmore, williams, amherst, emory, tulane, and BU.

Wow that's a lot of schools.

Some of the schools I applied to include Princeton, Rice, MIT, Caltech, Brown, and UCs.

Yeah, I knew I didn't want to be an engineer so I really didn't check the location ;)

But it's cool because it's free tuition, and just their brochure that they sent was really innovative and it just sounded really really awesome.

i believe it's... brunonians :p brownies!! hehe

oh brownies is nicer :)

Damn, I wish I had applied to Brown...

But for now-Yale and Stanford

duke, brown, dartmouth, penn, georgetown - I'd love to attend any of these schools. And if I don't get into a single one of those, I have very good state schools for cheap to fall back on. Either way I will get an education.

Princeton

Yale

Dartmouth

Stanford

USC

UCLA/UCB

BU

Notice I didnt put harvard. kekekeke...

I don't like Harvard, either, Hobbes - I just don't understand all the hype. But I figure that we all can't like the same schools; after all, if EVERY Ivy-applicant applied to Harvard (or Princeton), it would be even harder to get into (and that's saying something, as it is already incredibly difficult!)

Didn't you withdraw your other apps?

yup, i sure did. i didn't apply to Yale, D'mouth, USC, and BU, so i didnt have to h=worry about that. I withdrew my application for the UC's and Stanford though.

I was accepted ED to Princeton. The schools I was definately NOT considering were:
Yale, Dartmouth, Cornell, Penn

Brown and Harvard were the only two Ivies I would've applied to, along with some others.

It's interesting that you'd consider Princeton, Harvard and Brown, but not Yale....Yale is usually seen as being the medium between the other three.

MIT, Cornell, CMU

I would agree with you, but that was distinctly NOT the impression I got when I visited the Yale campus. I didn't like it, and I was definately not going to apply - which is ironic, considering that prior to actually visiting the campus, Yale, and not Princeton, was my dream school. C'est la vie.

gianievve-why not dartmouth? I hear that it is layed back and beautiful. Princeton is my dream school so i hope that when I visit it that I don't have the same reaction that you did when you visited yale. My mom went to Penn and HATED it...every time I have even ever metioned considering applying(in the hopes that it has a good business program and that it might be easier for me to get in) she immediately tells me 20 reasons why not to go there...so I am turned off by that school too. I have never really considered brown...everyone hear seems to be in agreement that it is great...

Dartmouth is probably a great school, but the location, student atmosphere descriptions, and majors weren't in line with what I was interested in. You should definitely visit if you have the chance, though.
