Messed up a whole lot in CC but getting good grades now, is UC out of the question?

What do I usually need to do to petition the Cs? Would my upward grade trend be enough? Those are weighing me down and I have a few, thank god theyre just crappy GE and not my major prep.

I was thinking of maybe taking some other different classes that fufill the GE req and getting As in those. I’m not sure if I can substitute them for the lower grades for my transfer later on…my advisor sucks lol I’m trying to figure this out on my own.

Oh and yeah, def taking summer classes, I don’t want to waste a semester with health/communications classes

I had a disastrous year after my first semester at CC. Accumulated around 10 w’s, two F’s, and 2 C’s (worse than an F). Was placed on progress probation for 3 terms. I had my share of circumstancial difficulties that contributed to this outcome, but it was all due to bad decision making. I was so depressed because I felt like I ruined my opportunities in college and I was really down in the gutter . One day i simply decided i had to change things around. I never looked back and tried to challenge myself every way possible. It was funny going to my counselors and seeing their eyes widen in shock when they reviewed my transcripts. Its like 4.0 for two terms, then “holy effing what the ef” for the next three terms, then 3.7 to 4.0 for the following 3 terms, completing 70 units within that last year. Dont worry about overall gpa so much, but focus on getting A’s and excelling in what matters to you outside of school. Find a way to get involved in something that relates to your major and devote yourself to it. The way I see it, just demonstrate to the UC’s what you are capable of when you set your mind to your goals. We all have big goals, but how likely are you to accomplish them? You’ll hace to prove that’ because that is what the UC’s look for.
