messed up application

So I just finished applying online to Tulane, and when I got the confirmation (attached with the print version of my application) I noticed that the formatting for my essay was messed up - just one big paragraph.

What should I do? I emailed the office of the undergrad admissions describing the problem, is there anything more I can do? Will this hurt my chances of getting in? Should I call them on Monday to try and fix it? Is it fixable?

Dont worry, it should be fine. I would call but that is not that big of a mistake.

Calm down, kiddo. It’s not a big deal.
Check to see if they’ll accept the essay as is, if not, just resend it.
Tulane isn’t a “hard-ass” school.
It’ll be fine.

Be aware that there is an admissions counselor assigned to each region of the country. They are very friendly and are there to help in exactly these kinds of situations. You don’t have where you are from on your profile, so you have to go to this web page:

[Tulane Admission: Meet Your Counselor](http://admission.tulane.edu/counselors/index.php)

and it is easy to find who your contact should be on there. Then just calmly explain that when you received the confirmation copy of your application, it appeared that your essay, which was formatted into more than one paragraph, seemed to have been reformatted in the process. I would just attach a Word file of the essay with the proper formatting to that e-mail, and that should be that. I am sure they will reply.

Good luck!

My daughter did the personal app. last year, and that’s the way her personal statement/essay was formatted, too. Not to worry — she was accepted.

Yes, my son’s essay was automatically formatted that way as well.

Same here. Looks like carriage returns are ignored.
