Messed up housing application?

I started my housing application then stopped because it said that we could revise it later. However, I can't access it now...should I call housing or just wait and see if it comes back later?

Contact Housing. I’m sure they will be helpful. A couple of years ago my son realized he had mistakenly indicated that he would be OK with a smoking roommate; when he contacted housing to correct this they got back to him right away and corrected his housing request.

same situation! unfortunately it’s saturday now and we have to wait till next week. a little disappointed to find the system doesn’t work after such a long time of waiting while my friends have already known about their roomates. :P

Again, keep in mind you will be at least 3 weeks behind your friends in most Freshman information since NU starts at least 3 weeks later than most colleges. Just keep yourself busy or you’ll make yourself nuts with the time difference!

Good advice from amtc. I remember that my son didn’t find out his housing assignment and roommate until late in the summer (very end of July?). At that point, some of his friends were just a couple of weeks away from departing for college at other schools.

lol? ive started my housing multiple times and quit without any problems. i just have to start from the beginning.

I think I submitted my application, but at the end it said to click on the left to accept the terms of agreement or something like that. I didn’t see a link, so I clicked on the “apply for housing link” and now it says “Sorry, your application is not available.” Anyone else have this problem?

that’s the exact same problem i’m having.

The same exact thing happened to me too :(. I don’t think it would have submitted my application though, because I don’t think I ever clicked on a submit button. I just clicked continue and then it happened to me.

yup, same problem here

Email housing@northwestern.edu

Give them your name and your student ID – you find that by going on CAESAR and looking for “Find my Student ID” in the second drop-down menu from the left. It is NOT the same as your NetID.

Say that you had problems with the housing application and either weren’t fininshed or just wanted to check that it had processed, whichever applies to you.

You’ll get an email back very quickly (mine arrived within 15 minutes) with very helpful advice.

what now? they said they had fixed the glitch and I was only able to update my housing & roommate preferences. and that’s it. is this the end?

anyone still having this problem? i called and they weren’t very helpful, so I emailed yesterday and still haven’t gotten a response.

Did people get any sort of confirmation that your Housing Application had actually been received by NU?

No, they don’t send any confirmation. But I finally got a response and they said they got it.

@cavsfan – thanks! Glad to hear that a lack of confirmation doesn’t imply that they didn’t get D’s application. ;-)

Does anyone know when or how you can expect to hear about housing assignments for next year?

If I remember correctly, I got an e-mail that said the Housing Application was up again with my assignment, and I checked it…and the rest is history. For some reason I can’t remember all too clear, but I believe it was around the first week of August. I would give that timeline a +/- of about a week or so.

@tinfoyl - thanks. I know D will be glad to have a timeline in mind as she’s eager to know where she’ll be living next year!

I think my son found out around August 1 plus or minus a few days. He never received the email with his assignment but saw on the facebook group that assignments were out, logged in and found out his assignment/roommate that way.
