I'm about to finish up my juinor year with all A's and one B taking AP classes and such, but you see I have a dark past in my high school career. When I first entered my freshman year I was kind of lazy and I made some stupid mistakes and such, so I ended up failing 2 classes Spanish and GEO(I retook them and made a C and a B), and I made some B's and C's here and their. MY GPA was tanked down to around a 2.1 or something.
I then started to work hard my Sophomore year pulling in B's and A's in classes like honors chem and Alg II, after that I entered my junior year and dedicated myself and made all A's. my GPA is at a 2.8 or 2.9 atm, and I sometimes get depressed thinking about my freshman year and how stupid I was to make such bad grades. Will colleges overlook my messed up freshman year and look at how I have improved and made a gradual rise to being an A student?

What colleges should I aim for btw, I was interested in becoming a doctor but idk if that's possible now.

It all depends where you are applying . My son ,who didn’t work hard first 2 years of HS ,really turned around in Junior and Senior year .He also spent many hours as an EMT and was the Captain of HS volunteers his Senior year . He just graduated Magna Cum Laude in Mechanical Eng . Just keep working hard and do some good community service .

Thanks sis really appreciate the good words.

I know some colleges, like stanford, don’t look at freshmen grades. I also know those who do look at freshmen grades want to see improvement from each year of highschool soyou’re good. don’t get depressed! you’re concern is enough to tell me you’re going to go somewhere good. ALSO: don’t give up on your dream! a couple of badgrades should not alter your entire life so, dont let them. Admissions officers are huma too and tey will understand that a 9th grader ispretty much like amiddle schooler. I will see you in a decade as an awesome doctor!

sorry for the spelling… my keyboard is being weird

You probably shouldn’t aim for an Ivy or anything like that, but you should aim for some fairly selective schools - 50% acceptance rate. Your grades are fairly good, and I’m sure college admission officers understand that the 9th grade is a tough year for everyone.

I just finished my freshman year with a 3.9 GPA, and I want to be a doctor too. Never give up on your dreams!

Thanks guys I really appreciate the support kind of alleviates my worries, i’m not aiming for Ivy league but I want to get into a decent college, something like NYU. BTW Jpvn, keep on going with the good GPA , don’t make the same mistake I did.
