I just got my midterm back and got 2 points below average with a standard deviation of 20...is it still possible to pull an A in this class?

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. This morning he said that the avg score decreases on 2nd and 3rd MTs meaning if you pull it up then, you can outpace the rest of us. Are you in an SLC group or did you go to the mock exam? I found that really helpful. Also the practice book.

I was in a study group but I didn’t go regularly. I did fine with the mock…I just made too many careless mistakes on the actual midterm…I think im going to have to go regularly now for sure

Yeah the SLC group is a great resource and hopefully you didn’t miss enough to get dropped from the course (doesn’t really matter though). Those mistakes will getcha I made a few too grrr

May I ask what the average was? I came a little late to class and missed the announcement in the beginning.

^
I heard somewhere around 112, but I can’t remember for sure so don’t take my word for it.

Provecho’s right. Standard dev was 20ish.

Not chem 3A, but I just got 1.33 SDs below average (MCB 104)…so yay. that’s like a D+ right?

^No maybe a C+ depending if they curve to a B or C

What is the average and SD of 2nd midterm?
Is it possible that any class has highest score of 96/100 but the average only is 50/100?
Then how is the SD was clculated in this case?
