Messed up on my SAT II

I did really bad on the Sat Math I today… I know most of u are like “pssh thats easy, I got a 800 on math II” but seriously how bad do you think this will ruin my chances? I got a 650 the first time I took it. I was planning on retaking world history but it is not offered until december (too late for Penn). MAN! I want to go to Wharton so bad, but Im not the best at Math… My essays and recs were really good, and my EC’s were good (including leadership positions and 1st place state title). I also visited the campus (dont know if that makes a difference and attended their college options thing).

Well I’m praying. seriously.

You know... the SATs are used to predict your ability to take on the school's course load in the future

Like how bad? Worse than 650? If you were applying to CAS, I wouldn't be so worried about it, but math is a really important to Wharton. Most applicants will probably have high scores on Math II, so a low score on Math I won't look very good. And, well...why do you want to go to Wharton if you're not good at math? I don't know though, if the rest of your application is strong, I don't know if the score of a single SAT II would make them change their minds.

You know...there's only a about 20% statistical correlation between how you do in any of the SAT/SATII tests and your college performance. With that said, if you are a typical, well-rounded applicant with a 650 SATII math score, it will hurt your chances (i have to be blunt here) when say, the admissions ppl have their choice of other "versions" of you with higher SATII math scores. HOWEVER, nothing is for certain in the admissios process - I bombed one of my IIs, and I'm here at Penn and loving it ^^. Good luck.

Thanks, you guys cheered me up some bit. I know the SAT doesnt really predict college success too well, and I want to go to Wharton because of the business curriculum. I can learn math, thats what a college is supposed to do (teach u stuff). I mean I might not do well on the math questions on standardized tests, but Im not "illiterate" at math. Well I'll just have to pray I get in.

My friend got in w/ 540 french.. he didn't have atheltic thing or anything.

^ mustve had some hook, or great essays.

I doubt the language SAT matters as much. I didn't do so hot on my spanish SAT but my Math II and Chem SAT were pretty good. They only ask for two SATs and I chose not report Spanish. I think you friend must have done the same.
