Ever since summer started I've been going to bed incredibly late. When I say late I mean really really late. The earliest I've been to bed since summer started was probably a little after 1. The latest time was somewhere around 8:30. This would be no problem but, school is starting in a few weeks and I need to set my sleeping schedule straight. I've tried going to bed earlier (like at ten) but I just can't seem to fall asleep! I usually just end up lying in bed and falling asleep around 2. Does anyone else have a problem with this or can suggest any remedies to my insomnia?

I have the same problem! Usually I just wake up when I should be waking up then I’m tied and go to bed at the proper time. Or gradually work sleep schedule back by an hour each night. One time I tried not eating 16 hours before waking up so like if you need to wake up at 6am, stop eating at 2pm. this is hard to do so don’t like kill yourself not eating. I stopped eating at 6pm and it worked, that’s only like 4 hours of wake time w/o eating. Oh, when you wake up eat a nice breakfast. Break the fast. This literally sets you body clock so that is your breakfast time. Watch light exposure. Once it gets close to bed time, stop staring at you computer screen, etc. When you wake up, open the blinds, etc. Hope that helps.

I had the same problem in June so what i did was wake up at 6 am in the morning for a couple weeks and worked out a lot those days so i’d be tired by the time I went to sleep

Thanks for the responses. I will definitely try them Anyone else?

Just a fun little plan: Try pulling an all-nighter and stay up until you regularly go to bed on school nights. Then have your alarm set/have someone wake you up at around the time that you’ll normally wake up for school. From then, continue to go to bed at night, on time, and wake up on time for a week.

Probably won’t work, but hey, anything’s possible :D

…Probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever written on CC…

Pop Benadryl. Puts you right to sleep. Take 3, after 45 minutes you’ll be struggling to keep your eyes open(:

^Yeah or a Nyquil. Also, exercising generally puts me right to sleep if I do it earlier in the day.

I’d get very little sleep one night, wake up early, then work out. Using drugs to fall asleep isn’t good. I once took benadryl on a campout to fight my allergies, and I pretty much passed out in my sleeping bag. But because temperatures dropped, and I was “artificially” sleeping, I didn’t wake up to add more layers. I ended up with a high fever and still had to hike 10 miles to get out.

You shouldn’t encounter this problem, but using drugs to fall asleep is generally a bad idea.

you must pray to the lord for forgiveness you have sinned and are being punished

Wake up when you should be waking up, and you’ll be so tired that you’ll sleep at the normal time :)

I had this problem after I went to a movie at midnight. I kept falling asleep at 3 in the morning or later. I worked my schedule back to normal by going to bed an hour earlier each night, which was easier than you would think. Then I just formed a schedule on whatever time I wanted to start going to bed. :)
