<p>Will the messy Illinois politics affect the education you get at UIUC in any way? Do you think it hampers the reputation of the University at all? I know the politics have made a mess of some of the Chicago public schools but has it hurt the reputation of U of I in any way? What is the feeling of those who live in the state? Are they still proud of "their university?</p>
<p>It will not affect your education in any way, shape or form. I feel like I got a great education in there, despite our penchant for throwing governors in the slammer.</p>
<p>The messy Illinois politics WILL, however, ruin plenty of university traditions.</p>

<p>Just to name a couple: Block I tailgates, drinking on Block I and Orange Krush road trips for students who are of age, paint the hall orange…</p>
<p>The Chief is just the biggest and most public one. It is amazing how easy it would have been to please BOTH sides of that debate instead of just the vocal minority.</p>
