met opera on line free weekend

The metropolitan opera web site has free weekend viewing of any of their online operas...started at 5pm tonight and goes through midnight Sunday night 5/3/09...happy viewing.

thanks–this is great!

Just finished English version of Magic Flute…Fabulous!!!

What has everyone else watched?

If you have trouble figuring it out…you have to create a login account…back out before you have to pay …then go to metplayer…then look for complete catalogue on left side…took a little figuring out but totally worth it…Hooked my laptop to big screen and stereo…Rubbing my hands together deciding what I’m going to watch next!

Sleep? This weekend? Me?

okay…Think I will try to catch a few zzzz’s before hitting it again later this morning…It is supposed to rain here afterall…

Just finished Dr. Atomic…both kids saw it earlier this year on PBS and loved it…I kept missing it though…Now I know why they loved it…It was the perfect choice for me at this time in the morning (when I finished it I had been up 23 hours- get up very early for work)…anyway have to admit I probably dozed a few times…but with the drums BOOMING almost ALL the way through it …I saw most of it…I did keep getting up and turning the stereo down in an effort to reduce the constant drone of the drums…but in my sleep deprived state I failed to realize until almost over that although I finally got to where I could hear almost none of the singing…the subwoofer didn’t really seemed to be controlled by that volume knob…I bet sleeping husband upstairs must have thought we were in the midst of really loud thunder storm for last 3 hours!

Plugged headphones into the wrong jack and cranked up the volume so my speakers were live instead of muted so I accidently woke up the “better half,” but I’m loving this.

I went right to Thais - had to see Renee Fleming and I like that the leading man is a baritone.

WELL…after Dr. Atomic…didn’t go to sleep as planned but instead proceeded to watch 3 more…so around 10:30 this morning I finally shut it down and went fishing with Hubby…then out to lunch and a stop at a vineyard…for that drink that I never got from SPIRITMANAGER I was hoping for…anyway…back again…can’t wait to see what I decide on next!

I saw parts of Puccini’s La Rondine…not a big fan of Magda sort of looking like a flapper…and I think it should have gone to a heavier voice…both her and Ruggero should have had heavier voices…I heard they’re married in real life…
just some thoughts.

La Fille du Regiment is delicious!

I watched Thais after Cartera45’s post…Gotta say of the 7 or 8 I’ve watched now (lost count)…it was right up there with my favorites! Go Rene!

Stingfollies

Have to agree…La fille du regiment was Fantastic!..very light and fun…hoping to squeeze just 1 more in before betime tonight

Eugene Onegin is really worth watching. I highly recommend it!

Currently finishing the damnation of Faust…WOW!
