Is this a good tool to prep for the SAT, my counselor suggested using it through my school's naviance site. So far I've taken the CR and W sections of the full length SAT and I scored a 670 and 620 respectively. Is this a good tool to use or is it inflating my scores?

They don’t use official College Board practice materials, and that’s a cardinal sin in my book. While you might be able to take some strategies from it, I wouldn’t interpret the results from the practice tests as particularly meaningful…especially when you’re not sitting down and taking a full timed test. Doing one section at a time online doesn’t come close to mimicking actual test conditions.

I wouldn’t recommend anything other than the books that have been published by College Board. There is an exception for Math, though-- PWN The SAT is an amazing book, in addition to the Blue Book(s).

to be honest, the college board books will the most authentic but these other companies really do their research. they phrase questions the same way the cb does, they asses the degree of difficulty and etc etc. if you had to choose, cb might have a slight edge but any test prep is better than none.

^^^Agreed!

That is theory that some would like us to buy. The reality is different in that the tests written by non-ETS writers are ranging from horrendous to merely acceptable. In addition, even the writers who could duplicate the style and contents are still unable to correctly measure the difficulty of each question accurately. In so many words, with the abundance of official material that has been released over the years by TCB, there are few reasons to WASTE your precious time on synthetic tests. It is not a matter of a slight edge for TCB, there is simply NO comparison whatsoever.

After all, is there anything more precious than the time of a high school student?

I mean I guess deferred is correct, any preparation should help. Also the fact that it is free is even better I guess. I also do have the blue book and use it whenever I have study hall in school and use MTP at home mostly.
